Job description

Are you an experienced Site Manager looking for a new opportunity?

Would you like to join a reputable regional Contractor?

Thatcher Associates are currently working with an established Building Contractor to identify a driven and experienced Site Manager to join their Bristol team. Initially, you will be overseeing a refurbishment project valued at £2 million; future projects will include both refurbishment and new build projects up to the value of £10 million within various sectors including education, leisure, and health care.

The Role

Typically, projects are predominantly new builds with some refurbishment schemes. The initial project will be a new build project based near Bristol, and future projects will be located in Somerset, Bristol, or Wiltshire.

Responsibilities
  1. Planning and estimating for budgets and timescales;
  2. Contributing to work planning and briefing project teams, contractors, and suppliers;
  3. Passing any extra work to be done within set timescales;
  4. Supplying information to resolve disputes if they arise;
  5. Identifying areas of concern and finding solutions for existing contracting processes;
  6. Overseeing health and safety implementation to appropriate standards;
  7. Managing the on-site management team and overseeing sub-contractors.

Skills
  1. Demonstrable experience leading and motivating a multi-skilled trades team;
  2. Able to think outside the box and react quickly to issues that need resolving;
  3. Good organizational skills;
  4. Ability to deliver quality to required timescales;
  5. Good knowledge and understanding of construction issues such as building regulations and planning;
  6. Commercial awareness and ability to establish and maintain good working relationships;
  7. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  8. A culture of continuous improvement to support.

Essential Requirements
  1. SMSTS;
  2. CSCS CARD;
  3. First Aid Card;
  4. HNC/HND or construction degree or equivalent qualification or other recognized construction qualifications;
  5. Ideally currently working for a large building contractor looking to work for an established regional building contractor and seeking to progress your career;
  6. Some leisure, education, or health care project experience preferable but not essential;
  7. Proven experience running your own projects of at least £8 million in value;
  8. Exposure to new build projects and various complex schemes;
  9. Extensive knowledge of health and safety and risk management on site.
