Job summary

Michael Page Legal is seeking an experienced solicitor to join the national Construction & Engineering team in Manchester. You will manage a varied caseload, advising on complex disputes and coordinating with experts, counsel, and clients.

The role offers significant exposure to adjudication, litigation, and arbitration at international and domestic levels. You will mentor junior lawyers, contribute to business development, and help strengthen client relationships within a collaborative national

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years' PQE in contentious construction and engineering law.
• Strong experience advising on complex construction, infrastructure, and engineering disputes.
• Exposure to adjudication, litigation, and arbitration proceedings.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Clients on a broad range of contentious construction and engineering matters.
• Providing strategic dispute avoidance and risk management advice throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supporting clients through negotiations, mediations, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
• Leading or assisting with adjudications, litigation, domestic arbitration, and international arbitration proceedings.
• Taking an active role in business development and helping to strengthen existing client relationships.
• Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior lawyers within the team.
• Working closely with clients, technical experts, counsel, and multidisciplinary legal teams to deliver practical solutions.

Description

Clients on a broad range of contentious construction and engineering matters.

Providing strategic dispute avoidance and risk management advice throughout the project lifecycle.

Supporting clients through negotiations, mediations, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Advising on disputes involving:

• Delays and disruptions
• Defects and performance issues
• Payment disputes
• Professional negligence claims
• Contractor and consultant disputes

Leading or assisting with adjudications, litigation, domestic arbitration, and international arbitration proceedings.

Working closely with clients, technical experts, counsel, and multidisciplinary legal teams to deliver practical solutions.

Managing matters with increasing autonomy while collaborating on larger, more complex disputes.

Taking an active role in business development and helping to strengthen existing client relationships.

Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior lawyers within the team.

Profile

You will have:

• A minimum of 5 years' PQE in contentious construction and engineering law.
• Strong experience advising on complex construction, infrastructure, and engineering disputes.
• Exposure to adjudication, litigation, and arbitration proceedings.
• Experience of international arbitration (desirable but not essential).
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and technical skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
• The ability to confidently manage matters and client relationships.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers.
• A genuine interest in business development and practice growth.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Job Offer

• Salary ranging from £70,000 to £115,000, dependent on the level of experience.
