Qualifications

Job Description

Being a Construction Planner (Airfields and Civils) at London Gatwick, you'll see the impact your work has on the airport's landscape and passengers. This role offers unique insights and a full planning service for your supported projects.

From facilities expansion to security upgrades and runway resurfacing, no two days are the same at London Gatwick. The diverse projects and live environment will keep you challenged and learning.

To support your journey, you'll be provided with the necessary development to grow. London Gatwick's Construction Department includes several programme and project teams and technical support functions. It is responsible for delivering the airport CIP and strategic growth over the next 5 years, encompassing campus-wide projects to deliver critical infrastructure.

What is the role?

London Gatwick is evolving rapidly, and this is an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join a high-performing team shaping Gatwick's future infrastructure.

The Planner will operate across all project stages, managing projects up to approximately £50m, providing comprehensive planning services. Responsibilities include schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, recovery planning, and providing technical support such as Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure, and Resource Loading.

What will you do?

  • Develop and maintain a robust delivery schedule with milestones and monitoring activities, coordinating with the project team to align work sequences with the overall programme schedule.
  • Monitor schedules, identify critical activities, and update functions for specific disciplines or interests.
  • Develop and apply installation rates to quantities, review contractor schedules, and provide recommendations.
  • Evaluate quantities, staffing, and schedule logic; prepare progress and performance reports.
  • Manage contract programme assessments, acceptance/rejection, and delay analysis.
  • Review quantity logs and assist in developing job hour expenditure for projects.
  • Review contractor schedules against baseline, identify critical path activities, and analyze performance variances.

Do you have what we are looking for?

  • Degree/Post-Grad in construction or related field.
  • Approximately three years' experience as a planner on projects over £10m is highly desirable.
  • Significant experience with Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
  • Experience planning infrastructure projects in live operational environments is desirable.
  • Skills in quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, and computer operations.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup processes.
  • Knowledge of financial and mathematical reports.
  • Understanding of NEC contracts.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Awareness of the airport environment is a plus.
  • Personal resilience and ability to operate within ambiguity.
