About Us

McDonald’s has operated in the UK since 1974 and currently runs over 1500 restaurants across the UK and Ireland, serving nearly four million customers daily. We are one of the UK’s largest private sector employers, with over 170,000 staff.

Location: South West England and South Wales (hybrid working pattern – 50/50 split between field-based and remote work).

This is an exciting opportunity to join McDonald’s UK & Ireland as a Construction Project Manager within our dynamic Construction Team. You will work closely with a Senior Project Manager to oversee new restaurant projects from feasibility to completion. Your role will involve managing the development and delivery of new restaurants, contributing significantly to McDonald’s expansion across the UK & Ireland. This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to impact large-scale, high-profile construction projects.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Site Evaluation & Development: Collaborate with the Acquisitions team and consultants to assess potential sites, considering all necessary factors before proceeding.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including franchisees, contractors, designers, and McDonald’s departments.
  • Project Coordination: Manage all phases of the project lifecycle, from pre-construction to handover, ensuring milestones are achieved.
  • Financial Oversight: Control project budgets, secure financial approvals, and report variances to keep projects within budget.
  • Site Inspections & Compliance: Conduct site visits to ensure construction progress, adherence to McDonald’s standards, and compliance with legal regulations, including CDM regulations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with contractors, suppliers, and teams to ensure timely, high-quality restaurant delivery.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in Construction Project Management, preferably in new build, commercial, retail fit-out, or transferable fields.
  • Strong Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead project teams and manage multidisciplinary groups.
  • Excellent Relationship Management: Ability to build and sustain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving & Autonomy: Capable of working independently and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-Oriented & Analytical: Skilled in analyzing project data and making informed decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software (preferred but not essential).
  • Driving License: Full, clean license required due to travel across the UK & Ireland.

What You’ll Get:

  • Industry-leading learning and development opportunities
  • A collaborative, inclusive culture where your ideas are valued
  • Competitive salary plus benefits including bonus, cash allowance, and private healthcare
