Dig It Construction, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Manager/Estimator. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of construction projects by providing accurate cost estimates and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. This position requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in various estimating software, and a solid understanding of heavy highway construction management principles.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements, while setting priorities.
  • Prepare construction budget by studying plans, updating specifications, and identifying and projecting costs.
  • Utilize estimating software to develop comprehensive project bids.
  • Review blueprints and specifications to identify project requirements and potential challenges.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing information and ensure competitive bids; negotiating prices as needed.
  • Assist in project scheduling and coordination to align estimates with timelines.
  • Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather data for accurate estimations.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and contracts for future reference.
  • Provide support during the bidding process by clarifying scope and addressing inquiries from clients.
  • Contribute to team effort, accomplishing results as needed.
  • Analyze information, maintain vendor relationships, and keep in close contact with other project managers and owners.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Project Estimator in the heavy highway/paving construction industry is .
  • Proficiency in estimating software is highly desirable. Strong computer experience is a must: Excel, Word, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of construction management practices and project scheduling techniques.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in estimates.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Time management skills, multi-tasking, and the ability to prioritize projects while maintaining a professional attitude.

Job Requirements

  • Ensure timely and cost-efficient completion of construction projects assigned
  • Review land surveys, assess project estimations and budgets, inspect existing structures, create design plans and review potential safety issues
  • Oversee CPM, 3 Week and 9 Day schedules
  • Negotiate contracts with subcontractors
  • Communicate/liaise with inspectors, owners and architects
  • Manage personnel through pre-and-post construction activities
  • Meet regularly with construction managers and coordinate delivery of materials with vendors
  • Represent company/project in meetings with client, subcontractors, etc., as required
  • Prepare progress reports and attend meetings
  • Other duties as directed by the Construction Manager

Personal Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience
  • Must be able to demonstrate project pre planning skills such as cost estimations and budgets
  • Demonstrate your negotiation skills and obtaining proper permits
  • Must be able to establish and meet construction schedules and deadlines
  • Manage onsite construction personnel
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office (word, Excel, Outlook), Project, Primavera Scheduling and Microsoft Project and Estimating software
  • CAD Software experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate with internal and external personnel of all levels, including negotiating with clients
  • 5+ years construction heavy highway project management experience
  • Working knowledge of construction principles
  • Knowledge and expertise with compliance both State and Federal guidelines and standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
