Construction Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to join a well-established and growing built-environment, property and construction consultancy, working out of the Southampton office.

This is a client-side focused Construction Project Management position, working across a varied portfolio of construction projects throughout the UK. You will be responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through to completion, working closely with clients, design teams, contractors and other key stakeholders.

The role would suit an experienced Project Manager with a background in construction consultancy and/or client-side project management who is looking for a varied position with excellent opportunities for long-term career development.

The Role

As a Construction Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the day-to-day delivery of construction projects
• Managing projects through pre-construction and post-construction stages
• Coordinating and managing design teams
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients
• Managing client accounts and maintaining strong working relationships
• Managing contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders
• Carrying out contract administration
• Preparing and maintaining key project documentation and processes
• Monitoring project programmes and ensuring key deadlines are achieved
• Providing regular progress reports and updates to clients
• Identifying and managing project risks
• Contributing to value management and value engineering exercises
• Managing projects involving multiple stakeholders
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
• Ensuring projects are delivered to the required quality, timescale and client expectations

What We're Looking For

You should have previous Project Management experience within the construction industry, ideally gained within a consultancy or client‑side environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in a Construction Project Manager or similar position
• Experience working within a construction/property consultancy and/or client‑side organisation
• Strong knowledge of pre‑construction and post‑construction project delivery
• Experience administering construction contracts
• Experience managing design teams, contractors and consultants
• Strong client‑facing experience
• Experience within commercial, retail and/or leisure construction
• Experience working within multi‑stakeholder environments
• Experience managing or mentoring junior members of staff
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
• Good commercial awareness
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills
• Higher education qualification
• A degree in Construction Management or a related discipline would be advantageous but is not essential
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
