Job description

Role: Construction Procurement Manager - 2 year contract

Location: Hybrid - WFH plus travel to Oxfordshire and other sites as required, (few days per month)

Salary: £600 - 650 per day (inside IR35)

Start: ASAP (once vetting completed)

Key Skills: Experience and knowledge of UK Government's Construction Playbook across public sector construction procurement projects, RIBA Plan of Work, NEC and JCT contract terms etc. and CIPS or equivalent certification

Summary: The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in New Engineering Contract and Joint Contracts Tribunal contract terms, navigate complex stakeholder environments, and support the development of current team to achieve procurement excellence.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Essential:

  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in applying the UK Government's Construction Playbook across public sector construction procurement projects.
  • Proven ability to translate Playbook principles into actionable strategies, including early supplier engagement, risk management, and the use of collaborative contracting.
  • Full understanding of RIBA Plan of Work
  • Expertise in NEC and JCT contract terms, with a deep understanding of their application to ensure efficient and fair project delivery.
  • Strong track record in managing end-to-end public sector procurement processes, ensuring compliance with UK procurement regulations and delivering value for money.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder environments, build consensus, and navigate resistance to achieve project objectives.
  • Experience in leading and developingteams, providing training and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Knowledge of risk allocation, contract administration, and dispute resolution, with a focus on achieving optimal outcomes.
  • Relevant professional qualification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or equivalent.
  • 5+ years UK residency, (with no extended periods outside of the UK), in order to meet the necessary level of security vetting required.
