Job summary

ARV Solutions Contracts is seeking a Procurement Buyer to join our Exeter-based team. The role focuses on supporting orders for materials, waste management and plant hire, while ensuring best-value procurement aligned with project programmes.

You will build supplier relationships, source quotations, and handle invoices and queries. The position requires experience in construction procurement, strong IT skills, and an independent, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' experience in a construction procurement or buying role.
• Experience working within the construction industry.
• Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate and liaise with suppliers.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
• Experience comparing supplier pricing, specifications and delivery schedules.
• Experience working for a building contractor or merchant supplier.

Responsibilities

• Support the procurement team with the preparation and placement of orders for materials, waste management and plant hire.
• Source competitive quotations and secure best-value purchasing outcomes.
• Ensure materials and services are supplied in line with project programmes.
• Maintain and develop supplier relationships and identify new supply chain opportunities.
• Process supplier invoices, plant hire requirements, and waste management documentation.
• Manage supplier and internal account queries via email and telephone.
• Produce procurement reports, including live hire reporting.
• Liaise effectively with operational, finance and site-based teams to support business requirements.
