Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Plant & Vehicle Fitter to join our team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of a wide range of construction plant, vehicles, and tools used by our on-site teams. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, a proactive approach to maintenance, and a commitment to ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable, and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine servicing and mechanical repairs on a variety of construction plant and company vehicles.
  • Diagnose faults in engines, gearboxes, hydraulics, and other systems, carrying out necessary repairs or part replacements.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment remains in safe working condition.
  • Reassemble and test machinery after repairs to ensure full functionality.
  • Manage the transportation of plant and equipment to and from the workshop as needed.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance in accordance with manufacturer and company guidelines.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment with confidence and precision.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Source and order spare parts and consumables when required.
  • Organise plant attachments to ensure they are ready for use.
  • Conduct and document mandatory 6-weekly vehicle inspection
  • Schedule regular servicing for all company vehicles.
  • Keep the workshop safe, clean, and well-organised.
  • Assist with the unloading and storage of parts and materials.
  • Monitor and maintain fuel levels and supplies across the yard.

Requirements:

  • Experience in plant or vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.
  • Motivated individual with an ability to work independently with good time management.
  • Competent in using a variety of tools, equipment, and diagnostic software.
  • A proactive and safety-conscious approach to work.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Relevant qualifications or apprenticeship in plant or vehicle maintenance.
