Work Experience / Technical Skills Required:

  • Essential:

    • At least 5 years’ experience in working with construction plant and machinery, specifically:

      • 360-degree Excavators (10 tonne to 25 tonne)

      • Dump Trucks

      • Batching Plants

      • Small Plant and Machinery

    • Strong mechanical skills and expertise in the maintenance and repair of construction equipment.

    • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and equipment for plant machinery.

    • Experience working with a range of construction machinery, from large plant equipment to small machinery.

    • Ability to work independently and solve problems efficiently on-site.

  • Preferred:

    • Experience with high-performance machinery in large-scale construction projects (e.g., airports, sea ports, highways, or industrial sites).

    • Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems in construction machinery.

    • Ability to perform welding, fabrication, and other specialized repairs.

Educational Qualifications / Training Record:
  • Required:

    • Relevant qualifications or certifications in plant maintenance (e.g., NVQ or City & Guilds in Plant Maintenance).

Overall Purpose of the Job:

To carry out maintenance, repairs, and servicing of various types of construction plant and machinery, ensuring equipment is in optimal working condition to support ongoing construction projects. The role involves working with machinery such as 360-degree excavators, dump trucks, batching plants, and small plant and machinery.

General Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic tests and inspections on construction plant and machinery.

  • Carry out scheduled maintenance, repairs, and servicing on 360-degree excavators (10 tonne to 25 tonne), dump trucks, batching plants, and other small plant machinery.

  • Respond promptly to plant breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, ensuring compliance with company and legal standards.

  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Work closely with the site management team to ensure that machinery is available and in good working order for the construction process.

  • Keep all tools and equipment well-maintained and ensure they are properly stored.

  • Troubleshoot and identify mechanical problems and take appropriate action to resolve them.

  • Liaise with suppliers for parts and materials and ensure the correct components are sourced in a timely manner.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment to meet health and safety standards.
