Job summary

Bauer Media Outdoor are hiring Construction Operatives to work in Portbury, Bristol, performing groundworks and installation of digital units and bus shelters. You’ll join a two-person crew and train to drive an HGV Class 2 vehicle to support installations.

The role is physically demanding, requires a full driving licence, and offers training, a salary of £35,900 with bonus potential, plus overtime and benefits. Lodging and expenses may be provided on longer trips.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence with minimal points (≤3).
• Experience in civils groundwork and site tasks.
• CPCS Slinger qualification preferred.
• Competency with CAT equipment and power tools.
• NRSWA accreditation to Operative level is desirable.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Knowledge of RAMS and health & safety requirements.
• Experience with excavation and sub-structure work.

Responsibilities

• Transport digital units from depot to site and install them.
• Break ground and install/replace digital units.
• Repair component-level parts on units.
• Work with crew to meet timescales and coordinate with teams.
• Ensure traffic management and site safety procedures are in place.
• Follow Construction Design and Management regulations 2015.
• Use equipment safely and maintain tools and PPE on site.

We're excited to be working on some interesting projects this year and now looking for Construction Operatives to join our growing team in Portbury, Bristol.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be working as part of a two-person crew, spending most of your day breaking up ground and replacing / installing new digital units and bus shelters for our local communities. You’ll must be willing to train to drive a HGV Class 2 Vehicle to help you do this.

This role will involve travelling to sites (roadsides and public areas) in the Bristol area, plus occasional travel further afield and some night working dependent upon business needs - sufficient notice will be given with lodging and reasonable overnight expenses provided.

You’ll receive an attractive salary of £35,900, which will increase once you have passed your HGV Class 2 training, plus annual bonus, paid annual leave 25 days plus bank holidays, opportunities for training and development and fully expensed tools and PPE.

It’s a physically demanding role which requires you to work at height, mainly using a small step ladder, so you’ll need to be a team player and watch/help out your crew partner.

If you’re not Class 2 HGV qualified then we’ll train you up and cover the costs, however you must be able to commute independently to and from our Portbury Depot in your own transport.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Transport digital units from the depot to the installation site via a HGV truck (after training)
• Break ground and install digital units
• Replace component level parts on digital units
• Work with your crew partner to manage your workload within the agreed timescales, and in partnership with other local teams
• Follow the Construction Design and Management regulations 2015
• Make sure traffic management is in place before starting work with segregation/prevention measures to prevent unauthorised people within your working area
• Follow our Health and Safety policy and the site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
• Correctly use equipment (including working at height), maintain and keep tools/equipment safe on site

Knowledge, Experience and Attributes

• Full driving licence with no more than 3 points
• Experience in civils groundwork
• CPCS Slinger preferred
• Competency in CAT use
• NRSWA accreditation to Operative standard
• Excavation and sub-structure knowledge
• Understanding of RAMS
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings
• Competency in use of power tools such as Hydraulic breakers and Disc Saws
