Job summary

Glanua is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to deliver innovative mechanical engineering solutions for MEICA and Civil works in municipal water and wastewater projects. You will design, develop, and implement mechanical systems from concept through to completion, leading design activities and coordinating with cross‑functional teams on site.

Job Description

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will deliver innovative and technically challenging mechanical engineering solutions for a diverse portfolio of MEICA and Civil works. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and implement mechanical systems for municipal water and wastewater projects. The role demands strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem‑solving, and the ability to manage mechanical aspects of projects from design through to completion.

Duties & Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Project Engineer are outlined as follows:

  • Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a "one team" culture.
  • Mechanical Design Leadership – take a leading role in the mechanical design and system integration for water and wastewater treatment projects. Oversee all stages of mechanical design, including site surveys, feasibility studies, detailed design, and tender pricing.
  • Cross‑Disciplinary Collaboration – work closely with civil, process, electrical, ICA, and H&S teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into the overall project. Provide technical guidance and coordination with internal and external design and project delivery teams.
  • Procurement and Equipment Selection – manage the selection and procurement of mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, tanks, pipework) and materials, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and project specifications.
  • Subcontractor Management – coordinate and manage subcontractors to ensure that their mechanical work aligns with project objectives, timelines, and quality standards. Ensure subcontractors meet contractual requirements and deliverables.
  • Site Monitoring and Progress Reviews – conduct regular site visits to monitor the progress of mechanical work, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure safety and compliance with established standards.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement – build and maintain strong client relationships from project commencement through to close‑out. Provide technical support, updates, and advice throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring client objectives and deadlines are met.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance – ensure the consistent implementation of health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures in line with Glanua and client‑defined standards. Address any performance, scope, cost or schedule issues proactively.
  • Project Reporting and Documentation – prepare detailed project plans, reports, and status updates for clients and internal stakeholders. Highlight key milestones, risks and mitigation strategies to keep all parties informed.
  • Continuous Improvement – participate in project review meetings and incorporate lessons learned into future projects. Contribute to process improvements across the company.
