BAM Ritchies is the ground engineering division of BAM Nuttall, providing integrated services for various projects, from small local to critical infrastructure. Named Contractor of the Year 2021, with over 60 years of experience, they excel in complex problem solving and sustainable delivery.
The Royal BAM Group is a major European construction company with 20,000 employees and a £7 billion turnover. Their purpose is to create sustainable environments that enhance lives, driven by outcomes, digital engineering, and a net zero carbon approach.
As an apprentice, you will learn materials testing in the construction industry, gaining experience on-site and in labs. The project is HS2, a major high-speed rail line connecting London to the North-West, a significant infrastructure and regeneration project.
You will develop skills in sampling, testing, equipment calibration, data recording, communication, and compliance demonstration, with opportunities for career progression and further education.
BAM Nuttall offers career development through apprenticeships, with pathways into full-time roles, further qualifications, and leadership positions. The program also prepares you for roles in manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, automotive, or R&D sectors.
The ideal candidate is reliable, motivated, detail-oriented, and curious about science and technology. Enthusiasm, teamwork, and a willingness to learn are essential. A full UK driving license and access to a car are required due to the remote location.
No prior experience necessary; attitude and aptitude are key. Enthusiasm and a proactive approach matter more than academic results. Candidates should be over 18, not in full-time education, UK residents for 3 years, and authorized to work in the UK.
Over 21 months, you’ll undergo combined online and practical training, earning a salary while studying for a Level 3 Materials Testing Technician apprenticeship. The program includes theoretical lessons, shadowing, mentoring, and assignments, with a focus on developing knowledge, skills, and work habits.
We aim to support your career growth beyond the apprenticeship, including further education and professional development opportunities.
