Construction Manager – Power & Cyber Security Projects

Summary

Job Title: Construction Manager (Power / Cyber Security Projects)

Location: Based in Chester, VA with frequent travel to power facilities across the region

Type: Contract (12 Months)

Schedule: Full-Time | 5/40 with potential for Overtime

Start Date: ASAP

Pay Rate: $75–$85/hour (with expense reimbursement in lieu of per diem)

Mobilization/Demobilization Bonus: $500 at start and end of assignment

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee field execution, ensure quality and safety compliance, and manage vendor performance across multiple project sites.

This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in industrial or power plant construction, particularly those who have worked on security or controls-related scopes. A willingness to travel and work on-site throughout the duration of projects is essential.

About the Client

Our client is executing a multi-site initiative to enhance cyber security infrastructure across its fleet of power facilities. These upgrades include physical and systems-level construction activities to safeguard critical energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a safety-first culture on all assigned projects, ensuring environmental and compliance standards are met.
  • Maintain a physical presence at job sites (minimum 80% of project duration) to monitor daily progress and quickly resolve field issues.
  • Oversee construction activities and vendor execution in alignment with project scope, specifications, and company standards.
  • Conduct field quality inspections to ensure material and workmanship meet contract requirements and regulatory codes.
  • Report deviations from plans, materials, or safety standards directly to the Project Manager.
  • Deliver timely project updates, inspection reports, and field observations to leadership.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and internal stakeholders to support safe, efficient, and high-quality execution.
  • Understand and apply all relevant specifications, standards, and supplemental contract terms.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of industry experience in construction, engineering, or field management, with at least 3 years in a construction management role.
  • Background in power systems (turbines, pumps, generators, motors, instrumentation, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cyber security infrastructure or control systems construction strongly .
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety practices, including scaffolding and confined space entry.
  • Ability to review technical drawings, interpret manuals, and prepare concise written reports.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • OSHA 30 certification .
