Job description

Bennett and Game are currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join a client of ours who is a specialist structural and steel engineering contractor. As a leading contractor, they deliver high-profile steel and civil engineering projects from design through to construction and completion. Our expertise spans across major infrastructure, bridges, industrial buildings, and specialist steelwork projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing a prestigious steel construction project.

Construction Manager - Package & Benefits:

Construction Manager - Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Project Manager to oversee and manage steel construction projects from inception to completion, focusing on advice around constructability during the design process and managing the assembly/installation on site.
  • Lead and motivate site teams to deliver work safely, to the required quality standards, on time, and within budget.
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure buildability and structural integrity of steelworks, including temporary works requirements.
  • Develop and review construction methodologies, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement and coordination, working closely with the commercial team.
  • Oversee site operations to ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations through the pre-construction and construction phases.
  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving expertise on-site.
  • Assist in the preparation of client reports, progress updates, quality plans, and risk assessments.
  • Identify and manage project risks, including early warnings under contract terms.
  • Support integration of steel structures with other construction disciplines.

Construction Manager - Requirements:

  • Degree or HND in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • NEC4 contract knowledge and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Appointed Person (advantage).
  • SSSTS (minimum).
  • SMSTS (advantage).
  • NVQ Level 6 Site management.
  • CSCS Black card.
