J. Murphy & Sons Limited is seeking a Construction Manager to lead the Energy on the National Grid, Great Grid Partnership project at Glaslyn - Porthmadog.

The role focuses on delivering construction and installation activities within major civils projects, with emphasis on safety, quality, and schedule adherence. The successful candidate will oversee project teams, allocate resources, manage subcontractors, and collaborate with clients and other leaders to ensure successful handover.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Major Civils projects.
• Experience in a Construction Manager role or similar.
• HNC / HND or NVQ Level 5 (or Degree).
• Excellent stakeholder management skills.

Responsabilités

• Overall management of project teams during the construction and installation phase.
• Co-ordination of constructability input during solutions identification and development phase.
• Allocation of construction staff to projects based on experience, skills and knowledge.
• Liaises with the Project Managers to ensure the construction resource pool is appropriately sized and skilled.
• Overall management of construction resources including Labour, Plant and Materials.
• Performance management of subcontractors.
• Ensures teams are accountable for performance against schedules and budgets.
• Oversee CDM compliance and duties of Principal Contractor.
• Control construction activities in line with quality procedures.
• Interfaces with functional leaders to drive project from solution to handover.
• Experience in delivering Major Civils projects.
• Experience in Construction Manager role or similar.

A day in the life of a Murphy Construction Manager:

• Overall management of project teams during the construction and installation phase of the project.
• Co-ordination of constructability input during solutions identification and development phase.
• Allocation of construction staff to projects ensuring that appropriate construction and installation staff are appointed to individual projects: based on experience, skills and knowledge.
• Liaises with the Project Managers to ensure that the construction resource pool is an appropriate size, with an appropriate blend of skill sets for the projected workload.
• Overall management of construction resources including Labour, Plant and Materials.
• Performance management of subcontractors.
• Ensures that the construction and installation teams are accountable for their performance against agreed schedules and man-hour budgets.
• Oversee the duties of the Principal Contractor are discharged in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
• Control all temporary and permanent construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with agreed quality procedures.
• Interfaces with all other functional leaders within the organisation to facilitate successful development of the project from solution stage constructability through construction, installation, commissioning, and handover to the client.
• Experience in delivering Major Civils projects.
• Experience within a Construction Manager role or similar.
• HNC / HND or NVQ Level 5 (or Degree)
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to develop close working relationships with clients and subcontractors.
