Lanesra Technical Recruitment Ltd is handling a Construction Manager vacancy focused on the United Utilities region with sites across Manchester, Wigan and Preston. Salary £70-80k DOE plus car allowance and strong benefits package.

The role reports to Senior Construction Manager and requires leading local construction delivery teams, overseeing HSE compliance and Sustainability, and coordinating with clients and end users to meet time, cost and quality targets.

Qualifications

  • Temporary Works experience/qualification.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Qualified in a construction related discipline.
  • APMP or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in large scale programmes of construction delivery.
  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment industry (preferred).
  • Experience in management of and monitoring of Project Programmes.
  • Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety.
  • Excellent oral and written communicator with clients and end users.
  • Delivery-driven with ability to set targets.
  • Able to manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver time, cost and quality objectives.
  • Strategic, operational, technical and management skills.
  • Commercially astute.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage site construction teams to deliver projects within budget and timeframes; run kickoff meetings and health checks.
  • Ensure supplier performance on Safety, Time and Quality and approve RAMS.
  • Lead Constructability Reviews, Project Rehearsal and Fit for Assembly sign-offs to drive outperformance.
  • Drive zero waste and reduce embodied carbon in construction activities.
  • Ensure timely contractual/commercial notices to the Project Team.
  • Work with Lead Construction Manager to determine resource needs.
  • Ensure full H&S compliance and empower teams to raise safety concerns.
  • Implement a blend of standard products and innovative techniques.

Job description

Position: Construction Manager

Location: Manchester, Wigan, Preston or different sites within the United Utilities region

Salary: £70-80k (neg DOE), car/allowance and excellent benefits package

Our Client: Is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector. They have over 1,400 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting eight long term water sector frameworks operating both on their own and increasingly in joint ventures and alliances.

They are part of a framework delivering multi-million-pound water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects for United Utilities.

The Role:

Report directly to the Senior Construction Manager, manage Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability with responsibility for managing compliance for all delivered construction work on a particular project. Manage the local construction delivery team to ensure all construction activities are provided in compliance with the scheme deliverables

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage site construction teams within designated portfolios to deliver projects within approved budget and to an agreed time frame, facilitate project construction kick off meeting and lead health checks.
  • Responsible for the performance of suppliers in relation to Safety, Time and Quality including approving RAMS ensuring they are appropriate and adequate.
  • Take the lead with Constructability Reviews, Project Rehearsal and Fit for Assembly sign-off which drives outperformance and innovation where possible.
  • Drive a focus on zero waste and reducing embodied carbon within construction activities.
  • Ensure that the site teams are raising the relevant contractual and commercial notices to the rest of the Project Team in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Lead Construction Manager to establish long term and short-term resource needs (labour, plant and materials).
  • Ensure full H&S compliance is achieved where the team feel safe every day and have the confidence and autonomy to raise safety concerns.
  • Seek to implement a blend of standard products and innovation techniques.
Experience:
  • Temporary Works experience/qualification
  • Project Management experience.
  • Qualified in a construction related discipline.
  • APMP or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in large scale programmes of construction delivery
  • Experience in the water/wastewater treatment industry (preferred)
