Qualifications

Job description

This role is critical in supporting a £6billion civil programme which provides Severn Trent Water a site presence to assure, support and manage the supply chain. This would also involve overseeing a team of highly trained and professional Construction Assurance Engineers to plan and manage a multitude of construction activities over the STW regional area providing HSQE cover to over 100 projects each month. As the Construction Manager you will ensure that the client's responsibilities under CDM 2015 are achieved effectively, utilising an assurance process to confirm and meet CDM compliance, identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective measures.

Key Roles:

  • To advise the senior leadership team and assist with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ related legislation, rules and Company standards.
  • Have thorough knowledge of the most current CDM / H&S Regulations in order to support Operational Staff in the preparation of Health & Safety documents.
  • Provide the project delivery teams with confidence that the programme, scope, HSEQ onsite can be achieved.
  • Leading on measuring and improving site safety and productivity of the supply chain using the digital tools available to the teams.
  • Support the programme where required in pre-construction activities, looking for efficiency opportunities, providing constructability advice / challenge and programme / sequencing challenge.
  • Implement a robust management structure for your team to maximise safety & efficacy over a project's life.
  • To work closely with other departments to align SHEQ standards across the regions.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Manager to join our dynamic team delivering critical infrastructure projects in the wastewater sector. You will be a dynamic and collaborative leader with excellent communication and influencing skills. You will have a strong ability to build successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds, and hold a relentless drive for continuous improvement, with the ability to innovate and anticipate unexpected issues and challenges as they arise within the Water Civil Sector.

You will have extensive experience in construction, technical knowledge in Temporary works, Confined Space, review and understand construction design drawings with the ability to challenge. You will also have experience of implementing CDM regulations in delivery of projects and experience working to standards, codes and practices and health and safety regulations.

Relevant qualifications include:

  • Civil engineering or Construction Management
  • SMSTS
  • IOSH and or NEBOSH (level 3 or above)
  • CSCS (level 3 and above)
  • Water Industry Knowledge (preferable)
