We are seeking an experienced Construction lawyer at the Associate, Senior Associate, or Director level with a solid background across either the contentious or non‑contentious aspects of Construction & Engineering law - or a mixture of both - to join our successful team in Birmingham.

Our Firm

Squire Patton Boggs is one of the world's strongest integrated law firms, committed to providing insight at the point where law, business and government meet. We deliver commercially focused business solutions by combining our legal, lobbying and political capabilities and invaluable connections on the ground to a diverse mix of clients - from long‑established leading corporations to emerging businesses, start‑up visionaries and sovereign nations.

More than 1,500 lawyers operating in 40+ offices across four continents provide unrivalled access to expertise. In the UK, we have offices in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and London.

The firm is committed to promoting an inclusive and supportive working environment. Embedded by local champions in each of our UK offices, our well‑regarded family, carer, and wellbeing programmes provide a variety of flexible working options to support individuals' life journeys, helping our people pursue their personal and professional goals.

Our Team

As you would expect from a firm of our profile and size, the members of our global Construction & Engineering practice are leaders in their field, operating across a range of jurisdictions. From a UK perspective, we advise our clients on all aspects of their construction and engineering projects, from project inception, procurement through to execution, and finding solutions to issues arising resolution of any disputes when projects do not go to plan.

The team advises on all standard forms of UK contracts including the well‑used NEC4 and JCT, Model Forms of contract as well as international forms such as FIDIC, IChemE, and bespoke turnkey contracts.

All forms of dispute resolution are undertaken by the team including litigation, arbitration (including international arbitration), dispute boards and adjudication as well as all forms of ADR.

Our Opportunity

Providing our clients with top rate service comes natural to us and you will be integral to the continuing provision of client service excellence. This is an exciting time to join Squire Patton Boggs with the opportunity to get involved in a varied workload with plenty of scope for direct client contact.

This role will suit someone with a commercial attitude along with a confident and proactive approach, with good people skills, ability to work as a team player and an interest in business development. There will be the potential for individual advancement within the team and you should expect excellent quality of work in a culture which encourages leadership and involvement with the business and its clients.

We have big plans for our practice in Birmingham, with an upcoming office move to a great new location in the works. We offer competitive pay and an attractive bonus and benefits programme, including an uncapped productivity bonus, alongside a great working culture and an established hybrid working policy.

You

We are looking for qualified lawyers (4+ PQE) with a strong track record in Construction & Engineering law and the drive and ability to deliver high‑quality work.

You will be a committed individual, with the ability and enthusiasm to take initiative, and to build long‑lasting relationships with clients, potential clients and advisers. You will be coming from a well‑recognised practice, and will thrive in a collaborative team environment.

There will be opportunities to work on a diverse workload in a range of different sectors - for example engineering plant (e.g energy & power), process plant in manufacturing and the built infrastructure environment, a combination of contentious and non‑contentious matters, or to work on a range of different infrastructure projects.
