Construction Lawyer
  • Location: Edinburgh / Glasgow / Hybrid Working
  • Team: Tier 1 Ranking Team
  • Salary: Negotiable + Bonus + Benefits

This is an opportunity to join one of the UK's market-leading Construction teams within a top-tier national law firm.

Role Profile:

  • You will work as part of a high-ranking team based in Edinburgh.
  • The team advises on all aspects of Construction Law across various sectors, including contentious and non-contentious matters. Work includes buildings, civil engineering, process plant engineering, energy, infrastructure, and utilities across private and public sectors.
  • The team also provides project support and advice to the wider Real Estate, Banking, and Projects teams.
  • The firm seeks to hire a Construction lawyer to work on a variety of construction-related matters, possibly including construction projects or environmental issues.
  • This is a high-performing, cohesive, and busy team with a reputation for providing early responsibility to associates within a supportive environment, offering a chance to take a leading role on some matters.

  • Candidates should have a solid grounding in construction law (contentious and/or non-contentious), including experience with building work, and preferably with process plant, energy, utility, or infrastructure projects.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Approximately 2+ PQE in non-contentious construction law, ideally gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level.
  • Experience in drafting construction documents and familiarity with JCT contracts or other standard forms such as NEC3.
  • Ability to contribute to the group's knowledge base through training, precedents, or know-how.
  • Ability to support complex transactions by liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other disciplines as needed.
