Job summary

Responsibilities

• Organise the on-site team and ensure daily work is completed efficiently.
• Work safely, follow procedures, specifications and legal requirements.
• Identify risks before starting work and update risk assessments as needed.
• Keep accurate job records including hours, materials, equipment hire and costs.
• Communicate professionally with clients, site representatives and the public.
• Ensure everyone on site wears PPE and follows health and safety rules.
• Carry out vehicle, tool, and equipment checks, including safety inspections and paperwork.
• Perform practical tasks such as digging by hand, lifting/moving materials and operating cutting/breaking/compaction equipment.
• Report damaged tools or equipment and ensure issues are resolved promptly.

£45,000 Per Annum + Overtime + Bonus

About the Role:

We are looking for a reliable and practical team member to help deliver planned maintenance and smaller repair works across the civil engineering projects in the South West.

You will work as part of a team carrying out a range of water infrastructure projects. The role involves different types of civil engineering work, including pipe repairs, pipe lining and pipe replacement using specialist equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Help organise the team and make sure daily work is completed efficiently.
• Carry out all work safely and follow the correct procedures, specifications and legal requirements.
• Check for potential risks before starting work and update risk assessments when needed.
• Complete job records accurately, including working hours, materials used, equipment hire and other job-related costs.
• Communicate professionally with clients, site representatives, members of the public and other people involved in the work.
• Make sure everyone on site wears the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows health and safety rules.
• Complete regular checks on vehicles, tools and equipment, including required safety inspections and paperwork.
• Carry out practical tasks such as digging by hand, lifting and moving materials, and using cutting, breaking and compaction equipment.
• Report damaged or faulty tools, machinery or equipment and ensure problems are dealt with promptly.
