Job summary

A South Wales-based, established residential developer is seeking an experienced Estimator to join the team. You will prepare accurate cost estimates and tenders across a range of residential developments, working closely with commercial and technical teams to ensure competitive pricing.

You will conduct viability studies, review drawings and specifications, obtain quotations, perform take-offs, and spot commercial opportunities while ensuring timely submissions.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an estimator in the open market within residential construction.
• Strong understanding of housebuilding costs and commercial awareness.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and schedules.

We are currently working with an established residential developer who are looking to recruit an experienced Estimator to join their team in South Wales.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tenders across a range of residential developments, working closely with the commercial and technical teams to ensure projects are competitively priced and commercially viable.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for residential developments.
• Conducting viability studies.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and relevant documentation.
• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Carrying out material and labour take-offs.
• Identifying potential cost savings and commercial opportunities.
• Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
• Supporting the commercial team through the tender and procurement process.
• Ensuring estimates are accurate, competitive and submitted within required deadlines.

About You

• Previous experience working as an Estimator within the open market, residential construction sector.
• Strong understanding of housebuilding and construction costs.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Good knowledge of subcontractor and supplier markets across South Wales.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in relevant estimating and Microsoft Office software.
