Bristol Infrastructure Design Services, LLC, is hiring a Construction Engineering Technician (CET) to join a team supporting the Navy’s shipyard optimization program at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine.
Required Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of verified experience as a Quality Control Manager for General Contractors on NAVFAC or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects, or 10 years as a foreman in trades such as Concrete, Mechanical, Electrical, Masonry, or Carpentry on commercial, industrial, or military projects. Residential experience does not qualify.
- Successful completion of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C).
- OSHA 30-hour outreach training.
Major Responsibilities and Required Knowledge or Skills
- Coordinate construction quality management programs for assigned projects.
- Review and recommend approval of contractor quality control plans with the Construction Manager (CM).
- Attend quality control meetings and monitor checklists for accuracy.
- Provide remarks on Government QA reports, especially on critical work features.
- Take and distribute progress photos.
- Support testing and commissioning of critical systems.
- Ensure quality workmanship according to specifications in concrete, masonry, structural steel, welding, and other materials.
- Keep the Government sponsor informed on project status.
- Review Activity Hazard Analyses and coordinate safety discussions with contractors.
- Review and recommend acceptance of Crane Critical Lift Plans and ensure crane safety compliance.
- Monitor contractor safety evaluations and perform worksite safety assessments.
- Take action to ensure contractor compliance with safety and health requirements, including leading safety stand-downs.
- Report and support investigation of incidents and near misses.
- Coordinate with contractors on utility hookups, storage, permits, and site logistics.
- Support interface and coordination with Supported Command in the field.
- Assist with installation, testing, and turnover of systems and equipment.
- Review technical and administrative submittals, schedules, and plans.
- Investigate engineering problems and recommend solutions.
- Participate in project scheduling and progress reviews.
- Verify and review as-built drawings and environmental compliance.
- Coordinate pre-final and final inspections, punch list completion, and project closeout.
