At Cavendish Nuclear we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Construction Engineer - Equipment Installationat the Hinkley Point C new nuclear build in Bridgwater, Somerset.

This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main MEH, cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling, equipment and pipework in the power station’s 2,500 rooms.

The role

As a Construction Engineer - Equipment Installation, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll provide day-to-day support to the Equipment Manager in the engineering, construction planning, and equipment installation activities across the HPC site, representing the MEH Alliance.

Day to day, you’ll deliver Mechanical Equipment Workpacks to support the MEH Alliance programme as well as providing and demonstrating a positive HSE leadership, building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle of the Project.

  • Own and Deliver Work Scope: Take full accountability for delivering discipline-specific Construction Work Packs, from scope definition to >90% first-time acceptance, ensuring alignment with MEH construction activities.
  • Drive Documentation Excellence: Maintain up-to-date, compliant documentation in line with the latest Works Information and MEH standards, with a minimum six-month review cycle and proactive prioritisation to meet Level 4 plan milestones.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Act as a key liaison with Subject Matter Experts and client counterparts, ensuring seamless integration of technical input and stakeholder expectations.
  • Champion Safety and Improvement: Demonstrate visible HSE leadership, uphold nuclear safety and site license requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance processes and resource effectiveness.

This is a full-time role with 37 hours per week based on the Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset. The usual working patterns are across a 9 day fortnight rota (Mon – Thurs, 3 days off / Mon – Fri 2 days off).

Essential experience of the Construction Engineer - Equipment Installation

  • Experience working on major construction projects. With proven track record of working in a highly regulated sector and knowledge and experience in Safe Systems of Work
  • Experience in the installation of large equipment either rotating or static. Examples include – pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, fuel storage tanks, steam & gas turbines, generators, compressors, motors.

  • HNC qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience of installing large equipment and machinery.
