Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a Construction Engineer on the Hinkley Point C Project and you’ll deliver complex work that really matters to our business and the world around you.

About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs, and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UK’s move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.

What you'll be doing

As a construction engineer, you will support the Site Wide Workshops Operations project manager in the day-to-day engineering and construction planning to understand the installation of supports across the HPC site on behalf of the MEH Alliance.

  • Delegation of responsibilities to Construction Engineers/Works Coordination Leads. Lead, manage, and motivate the team through implementation of best practice.
  • Produce the construction packs for the cutting, welding, and coating of supports.
  • Work with preconstruction to maintain a 6-month rolling stock of supports and clamps based on the programme.
  • Return supports to warehouse that cannot be installed within the agreed KPIs.
  • Support the Workshops Operations Manager with all reasonable requests.
  • Provide and demonstrate positive HSE leadership, building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the entire construction lifecycle of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site license requirements.

Who we're looking for

  • Degree in a relevant discipline or HNC in a relevant discipline, or relevant experience along with a competency-based interview.
