BakerHicks is looking for a site-based CES Supervisor based at our client’s facility in Barnard Castle to oversee and coordinate construction activities related to the delivery of EPCM projects (CES elements).
The Construction Supervisor will oversee the efficient and safe execution of the project, ensuring full compliance with industry standards and client specifications. This includes coordinating on-site construction teams, monitoring progress, addressing challenges, and guaranteeing the project is completed on time and within budget.
This role will support the site Construction Manager, working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, to ensure individuals are put to work safely.
This role requires daily on-site presence, so you will reside in the surrounding area or be willing and able to travel.
Key Objectives
- Provide construction electrical project supervision, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on all EC&I installations.
- Monitor attainment to plan.
- Conduct assessments and audits to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Develop and review engineering designs, specifications, and documentation.
- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project delivery.
- Foster a culture of safety, excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement during the lifecycle of the project.
- Document all construction activities, including daily reports, inspection records, change orders, and as-built drawings for project documentation and closeout.
- Help to enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulations on site to minimise the risk of accidents and injuries. Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement appropriate controls.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure that construction work meets or exceeds industry standards and client requirements. Conduct inspections and tests to verify the quality of plant, materials, workmanship, and installations. Address any non-conformances or deficiencies identified during construction and work with subcontractors to implement corrective actions.
- Field presence and direct involvement with trades is the priority. The role is not just a policing / checking one but requires active participation in the documented health and safety planning (including approval of the safe working practices, particularly the method statements) and positive intervention during the construction work to ensure tasks are carried out in accordance with the method statement.
Requirements
Essential:
- 18th edition wiring regulations.
- Trade-related city and guilds qualification - ECS gold card (or equivalent).
- Recognised professional certification in construction site supervision. - SSSTS (minimum), ideally SMSTS.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in CES field supervision on complex industrial projects- ideally pharmaceutical sector.
- Proficient in MS Office
Desirable
- A Bachelor’s degree/HND/HNC in electrical engineering is advantageous but not essential.
- TWS (temporary works supervisor) is advantageous.
