Matchtech is seeking a Construction Delivery Manager to support the HPC site at Hinkley Point C, overseeing construction activities and coordinating multiple contractors in line with CDM 2015.

The role requires collaboration with Tier 1 partners, conducting safety and quality inspections, and driving schedule adherence on a high-profile nuclear project. UK background checks and site presence are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree (BSc/BEng) or HNC/HND in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Construction Management.
• SMSTS or IOSH certification is required.
• Experience managing construction sequencing, developing recovery plans, and overseeing resource allocation on complex projects.
• Solid understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations and statutory obligations in heavy civil or industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Contract Partner Support: assist tier-1 contractors and supply chain partners safely delivering works to specification.
• Mitigation & Safety Assurance: identify safety or quality risks and conduct assurance audits to prevent delays.
• Site Inspection & Reporting: conduct site walks and feed into daily construction reports, escalating issues to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager.
• Cross-Team Coordination: align schedules with Health & Safety, Project Controls, Contract Management, and Logistics.
• Contractor Meetings: attend Plan of the Day/Plan of the Week meetings with partners and record outputs.
• Compliance & Governance: enforce CDM obligations and site protocols under UK regulations.

About the Opportunity:

This role supports the construction delivery within a specific area of the Nuclear Island / Balance of Plant works for Hinkley Point C (HPC) - the UK's premier nuclear power generation project. Reporting directly to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager (SCDM), the Construction Delivery Manager (CDM) oversees site construction activities, logistics integration, and multi-contractor coordination.

In this position, you will work closely with Tier 1 contract partners to enable efficient execution, conduct Health, Safety, and Quality assurance inspections, monitor site progress, and drive schedule adherence in accordance with strict CDM Regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Construction Oversight & Contract Support

• Contract Partner Support: Assist tier-1 contractors and supply chain partners in delivering their assigned works packages safely, efficiently, and to specification.

• Mitigation & Safety Assurance: Identify safety or quality risks on-site, recommending temporary mitigation measures and conducting assurance audits to prevent delays or work stoppages.

• Site Inspection & Reporting: Conduct regular site walks and feed into daily construction reports, escalating key issues, progress trends, and safety risks to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager.

Coordination & Logistics Management

• Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate continuously with internal project functions (Health & Safety, Project Controls, Contract Management, and Logistics) to align schedules and maintain site communication.

• Contractor Meetings: Attend PLOD (Plan of the Day) and PLOW (Plan of the Week) meetings with contract partners, recording key outputs and issuing updates to project leadership.

• Briefings & Engagement: Participate in pre-start briefings to reinforce project expectations, key messaging, and nuclear safety culture across contractor workforces.

Compliance & Governance

• Safety Inspections: Execute routine safety and assurance inspections aligned with project High Standard Performance Indicators (HSPIs).

• CDM & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce client obligations and site protocols under UK CDM Regulations 2015 and related statutory authorities.

Candidate Profile:

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Degree (BSc/BEng) or HNC/HND in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management (or equivalent vocational training and experience).

• Safety Certification: SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or IOSH qualification is required.

• Construction Management: Proven experience managing construction sequencing, developing recovery plans, and overseeing resource allocation on complex engineering/construction projects.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations and statutory obligations within heavy civil or industrial environments.

• Reporting & IT Skills: Ability to write clear, concise, and informative technical and progress reports for senior management.
