Job description

The Opportunity

Our client, a major contractor on the UK’s largest construction project in Bridgwater, has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Delivery Lead to work in a staff position on site at Hinkley Point C Power Station. The CDL is responsible for the delivery, co-ordination, and management of a designated section of the Works associated with specific Contracts.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Manage and develop Construction Delivery Managers to ensure they understand site activities and can carry out their roles effectively. Offer support and guidance, ensuring all appropriate training for a CDM is undertaken.
  2. Fulfill Line Management responsibilities to Construction Delivery Managers.
  3. Oversee all aspects of Health Safety and Environment during construction activities in allocated areas, in accordance with the NNB HPC Construction Phase Plan.
  4. Undertake and record safety and/or assurance inspections that support the project KPIs. The tool at HPC for this is INSIGHT.
  5. Share the Construction Delivery Manager’s responsibilities depending on work area and scope complexity. When nominated by the SCDM, undertake the role of Construction Delivery Manager for specific areas as required.
  6. Ensure that the HPC Drumbeat for the series of Daily and Weekly Meetings is understood and carried out by CDMs.
  7. Organise and conduct Weekly planning meetings called Plan of the Week (PLOWs) with Contractor Partners to ensure coordination and short-term planning aligns with the overall delivery schedule, with outputs recorded and issues escalated.
What you will need:
  1. Management of strategic planning of site setup, construction sequencing, recovery plans, and resource allocation.
  2. Good working knowledge of commercial principles affecting construction matters.
  3. Ability to produce informative, concise reports.
  4. Motivational approach and the ability to energise team members by building a climate of trust and understanding.
  5. Considerable working knowledge in the delivery of large complex projects.
  6. Relevant Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Construction.
  7. Working understanding of the post holder’s obligations under CDM Regulations.
  8. NEBOSH, SMSTS, or IOSH qualification holder.
