Job summary

A leading recruitment agency in the UK is seeking a Construction Sourcing Specialist to manage complex procurement projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the construction industry, be familiar with JCT contracts, and possess excellent stakeholder engagement skills. This is a hybrid position with home-based work and client site visits primarily in the South. The role involves advising governments and public sector agencies on procurement strategies.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of the construction industry like Quantity Surveyor, PM, EA or CA background.
  • Experience working with or within public sector Contracting Authorities.
  • MCIPS, RICS or relevant professional qualification is desirable.

Job description

This is a home-based role with visits to client sites (mainly based in the South).

The Role

As a Construction Sourcing Specialist, you'll be at the heart of delivering complex sourcing projects across the construction category, working with Government Departments, Local Authorities, and Public Sector Agencies. You'll act as a trusted advisor, driving commercial value, regulatory compliance, and innovative procurement strategies.

This is a client-facing, hybrid role where you'll collaborate with internal teams—including legal, commercial, and operations—to deliver best-in-class procurement services that align with client goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead high-value, complex construction procurement projects
  • Advise on routes to market, contracting models (JCT, NEC), and tendering strategies
  • Conduct market research and supplier analysis to inform sourcing decisions
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and key suppliers
  • Negotiate favourable commercial terms, ensuring best practice and compliance
  • Support delivery of social value and sustainability objectives through procurement
  • Collaborate with internal teams across legal, finance, operations, and implementation
What we are looking for
  • Solid understanding of the construction industry - e.g. Quantity Surveyor, PM, EA or CA background
  • Familiar with standard forms of building contracts (particularly JCT)
  • Knowledge of Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Passion for delivering value, innovation, and continuous improvement
