Job summary

Think FE Ltd is seeking a Lecturer in Construction and Built Environment to deliver high‑quality teaching across full-time, part-time and short courses. You’ll help learners develop technical knowledge, practical skills and confidence for their future careers.

Experience is beneficial but not essential; the college will support the right candidate toward a teaching qualification. DBS check and safeguarding commitment are required.

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a closely related subject.
  • Relevant professional experience within Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Knowledge in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Land Surveying.
  • GCSE Maths and English Language at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
  • Strong communication, organisation and IT skills.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and engage learners.
  • A flexible and positive approach to your work.
  • A willingness to work towards a recognised teaching qualification if you do not already hold one.
  • Previous teaching or training experience within Construction Management or Civil Engineering would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive teaching.
  • Teach learners across Construction Management, Civil Engineering and related built environment programmes.
  • Assess student work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Act as a course tutor, supporting learners with their progress, attendance and development.
  • Contribute to curriculum development in response to changing industry needs.
  • Take part in practical demonstrations and activities.
  • Support internal verification, auditing and wider quality processes.
  • Help maintain a positive, professional and safe learning environment.
  • Contribute to student recruitment activities, including careers events and college events.
  • Promote safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout your work.
