Job description

Oxford Phase 2 is a multidisciplinary enhancement project designed to deliver increased capacity to Oxford station. The project involves amendments to civils, signalling, telecoms, track, and E&P installations, including replacement bridges, a new platform, and a station entrance building. Currently at ES6 stage, the project is on site constructing.

This high-profile enhancement scheme is under significant stakeholder scrutiny regarding outcomes, delivery, and cost.

We seek a construction Assurance specialist capable of swiftly identifying and resolving issues to ensure works are completed to high quality standards and on schedule.

Services will be delivered in accordance with several NR standards, including:

  • NR/L2/RSE/CONM/001 - Construction management for projects
  • NR/L2/MTC/089 - Asset data exchange and maintenance (AMP)
  • NR/L2/P3M/201 - Project acceleration in a controlled environment (PACE)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting, recording, and documenting construction activities for quality assurance
  • Inspecting workmanship and quality of works delivered
  • Recording quality details per specifications, ITP, and QMS documentation
  • Supporting testing of completed works, liaising with site lab and Quality Manager
  • Identifying defects, stopping works if necessary, and supporting defect resolution (including NCRs)
  • Witnessing and reviewing documents such as ITPs
  • Producing quality forms and checklists to ensure high-quality activities
  • Collaborating with the project team to improve work quality and productivity
  • Liaising with designers and client supervisors
  • Promoting health and safety on site
  • Ensuring works are completed on time

Skills required:

  • Experience in heavy civils construction within a rail environment
  • Possession of PTS certification
  • Good understanding of Highway works specifications, construction quality, and rail industry standards
