Summary

The Construction / Mitigation Estimator is responsible for managing functions necessary to obtain, bid, and price construction projects. This role requires the ability to write estimates using Exactimate software, with at least two years of experience in creating accurate and detailed estimates. The estimator must produce precise scope of work documents, deliver consistent estimates, and maintain high-quality service in dealings with customers, vendors, clients, and resource providers involved in construction and mitigation services.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Establish customer relationships for construction services
  • Educate customers on the construction process
  • Assist customers in understanding desired upgrades/changes
  • Ensure estimates meet client requirements
  • Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for projects
  • Create accurate sketches and initial scope of work
  • Deliver well-defined initial estimates
  • Recognize project constraints and upgrades needed
  • Collaborate with Construction Manager to price bid items
  • Finalize project scope of work
  • Coordinate with outside resources (Structural Engineers, ITEL, Electrical Inspectors, etc.)
  • Assemble organized and accurate estimates
  • Communicate estimates to Construction Manager
Education and Experience Requirements
  • BA in engineering, construction science, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of construction estimating and/or insurance adjusting experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Xactimate estimating software
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Team player attitude
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
  • Walking and/or standing throughout the day
  • Frequent driving and sitting
  • Occasional ladder climbing
  • Exposure to extreme conditions such as heat
  • Loud noise levels at job sites
Working Hours, Travel, and Additional Requirements

This is a full-time position, with working hours typically between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, totaling at least 40 hours per week. Long hours, on-call work, and weekend work are often required. Travel is primarily local, with some out-of-area and overnight travel expected.
