We are seeking a talented individual to join our Construction team at Marsh. This role can be based in Norwich or Manchester with a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

The Account Manager will work within a highly skilled team of Client Executives/Client Managers that specialises in managing a portfolio of existing construction accounts, alongside dealing with new Project/Annual enquiries.

The successful candidate will help manage a book of business and deal with all queries from brokers, clients and stakeholders as well as the day-to-day running of the existing portfolio including renewals, mid-term adjustment, placements, etc.

We are a tight, professional and technical team of 150 insurance professionals in the UK working with all insurance products and services for our portfolio of large commercial construction clients.

We will rely on you to:

  • Provide close support to both Client Executives (CE) and our in-house Broking Team, including management of the placement process – new business and renewals. This extends to collection and distribution of premiums, as well as routine servicing of accounts.

  • Develop an excellent understanding of CE/Broking Team requirements

  • Implement the Construction specific placement strategy to achieve growth goals and provide exceptional client service.

  • Facilitate submission of new coverage enquiries and obtain quotes from Insurers based upon the Client First Principles for Broking, being “Identify, Promote, Pursue, Handle, Continue, Manage” transaction model.

  • Bind cover according to Client instructions and be responsible for the accuracy of policy documents.

  • Create and maintain relationships within own practice, insurance markets, clients, and underwriters to provide cohesive client service.

  • Interface closely with client executives and client teams to support client retention and new business production.

  • Advise management about client issues or trends through clear communication, and participate in the development of solutions

  • Depending on seniority and experience, the CM may be expected to deal directly with clients, intermediaries, and markets, to ensure the timely and accurate processing of placements and comprehensive servicing.

What you need to have:

  • The ability to process instructions whilst working under pressure

  • Excellent relationship building skills

  • Confidence to be an articulate verbal and written communicator.

  • Strong organisational skills, diary management, and an ability to multi-task.

  • Good standard of education

What makes you stand out:

  • Previous experience gained within insurance as an account handler/broker support, ideally with construction clients (but not essential).

  • Able to calmly process a large volume of diverse workload with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Be resilient, happy to work in a busy and demanding environment, and enthusiastic to learn.

Why join our team

  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.

  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.

  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
