Join a leading conservation charity as a Conservator Volunteer and help maintain the waterways while learning valuable skills. This hands-on role offers opportunities to engage with the environment, connect with the community, and enhance your wellbeing through outdoor activities.
Join us today to become a Conservator Volunteer and be part of the team keeping history alive by preserving our waterways. In this role, you’ll experience the many faces and locations of our beautiful network and help maintain our structures and assets. Whether working on pre-planned maintenance, such as cutting back vegetation around aqueducts, or tackling graffiti in urban locations, our Conservators ensure there’s plenty of beauty on the doorstep. This is a great opportunity to make a significant difference in your community while learning more about the canals in your area.
This role is location-based, requiring you to meet our team at different sites along the old and new main line between Tipton and Dudley Port. It involves varied work that significantly improves the canals for the local community.
Our Conservator volunteers help maintain our network, performing heritage and nature conservation activities, as well as everyday tasks like painting or litter picking to improve the local environment.
They help address tough issues on the waterways, ensuring the canal is accessible and well maintained. Your support will help us manage our increasingly popular spaces and keep canals vibrant.
Some projects are specific, such as rebuilding stone walls or mass planting, allowing volunteers to give their time in different ways.
