Job description

Contract: 1 year fixed-term contract, full time (40 hours per week + occasional overtime)
Salary: £25,750 per annum
Location: Huddersfield (with travel to sites across the UK)

Role specification

As a Conservation Operative, you’ll work as part of our northern team delivering a variety of conservation projects. This is a hands-on role, requiring physical fitness, attention to detail, and a commitment to health and safety.

Your work will include:

  • Carrying out day to day conservation land management activities on various habitat sites.
  • Following to all site health and safety requirements including risk assessments as directed by site supervisors.
  • Working alongside supervisors to ensure practical works are delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • This role will involve travel to sites across the country and occasional overnight stays.


Essential elements

  • Experience of working outdoors and carrying out practical works.
  • Some experience of working in the conservation sector (through a degree, work placement or volunteering).
  • Physically fit and comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • A self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
  • Ability to work away on occasion.
