Conservation Architect Job in Winchester, Hampshire

A Conservation Architect position is available with a well-established practice based in Winchester, Hampshire. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of conservation projects, including ecclesiastical buildings, historic palaces, and some of the UK's most renowned landmarks.

The practice has been operating for over 80 years and boasts an eclectic portfolio that includes contemporary residential projects—both bespoke and developer-led—conservation, and specialized one-off projects. Due to current workload, they are seeking a Conservation Architect to join their dedicated conservation team. The role involves leading several projects and developing long-term client relationships. It also offers long-term professional development within the practice for the suitable candidate.

Role & Responsibilities
  1. Work on projects across all RIBA stages from concept to completion.
  2. Handle projects including residential, landmark, and ecclesiastical buildings.
  3. Conduct project research.
  4. Communicate directly with clients.
  5. Produce drawing packages.
  6. Perform site visits and surveys.
  7. Address onsite issues as they arise.
Required Skills & Experience
  1. RIBA Part III qualification (or equivalent) & ARB registration.
  2. AABC or RIBA Conservation Accreditation is highly desirable.
  3. At least 6 years of post-qualification experience working on UK conservation and historic building projects.
  4. Strong eye for historic design with a thorough understanding of contractual procedures.
  5. Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
  6. Must be located within commuting distance or willing to relocate to the area.
