Job description

Overview

Are you passionate about caring for the environment? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Conservation team as a Conservation Advisor working with your colleagues to manage the habitats on our land. This will include implementing conservation plans and working with our stakeholders, to provide a positive contribution to biodiversity. Within this role you will be supporting the management of invasive non-native species, including the implementation of biosecurity. You will be responsible for ensuring conservation guidance is provided within agreed timescales, supported by a Conservation Specialist where required. This ensures recommendations are accurate to maintain trust and confidence. In addition, you will ensure existing and new conservation data in the Geographical Information System (GIS) is correct. This means you will work with colleagues to support surveys of our landholdings. The role will include working outdoors in all weathers, and there may be occasions when you will be working alone.

Responsibilities

• Support management of habitats and implementation of conservation plans.
• Work with stakeholders to provide a positive contribution to biodiversity.
• Assist in managing invasive non-native species and implementing biosecurity measures.
• Ensure conservation guidance is provided within agreed timescales, with support from a Conservation Specialist when required.
• Maintain accurate conservation data in GIS and support surveys of NWL landholdings.
• Work outdoors in all weathers and, at times, alone.

Qualifications

• Experience in conservation practices including managing a range of habitats.
• Technical knowledge of conservation and biodiversity, including relevant legislation and policies.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders clearly and concisely.
• Awareness of licensing processes for protected species.
• Willingness to develop knowledge of NWL's environmental obligations and ensure compliance.
• Full UK driving licence.
