  • Regional Practice Group Heads, Sector Leads, and Client Relationship Partners
  • Australian Conflicts team in Sydney
  • Financial Crime and Matter Management teams in NB&ER
  • Partners, lawyers, and PAs
  • Business Development

Role Context:

  • The NB&ER team ensures policies and processes for onboarding new clients and matters are followed, including conflict checks, client approval, matter inception, financial crime, anti-money laundering checks, and information barrier management.
  • The Conflicts Team includes legally qualified members in London and Sydney, providing joint services globally.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing conflict checks on every new matter globally to identify and resolve conflicts of interest.
  • Reviewing new client and matter opportunities, advising partners on conflicts and information barriers.
  • Understanding and identifying wider risks, including reputational, sanctions, financial crime, and commercial conflicts.
  • Advising partners and lawyers regarding conflict check results, processes, and policies.
  • Liaising with the Financial Crime team on Matter Risk assessments.
  • Ensuring effective collaboration between London and Sydney teams.
  • Contributing to building an effective global conflicts team.
  • Influencing conflict management technology and projects.
Key Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
  • Law degree/LPC
  • At least one year of experience in a professional services environment in this field (considering candidates with varying experience if competencies are demonstrated)
  • Understanding of conflicts of interest and confidentiality legal regimes
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent commercial awareness
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and work autonomously
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs and research resources
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
