With operations in 40 countries and a team of 6000+ professionals, we deliver expert solutions to complex engineering challenges. In the UK, we are firmly positioned within the nuclear sector, contributing to major infrastructure projects, including the groundbreaking Hinkley Point C (HPC) Nuclear New Build.

We are currently seeking motivated and qualified Configuration Engineers to join our Technical Communities in the South West. This is your opportunity to be part of a major infrastructure project that will shape the future of sustainable energy.

The Position

As a Configuration Engineer, you will play a critical role in defining and implementing configuration management processes, tools, and standards to support complex projects. Your responsibilities will include managing design changes, open points, and data interface transfer packages while ensuring a structured and optimised approach to project configuration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical coordination activities such as design change management and design review, ensuring alignment between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage configuration strategy to ensure compliance with HPC guidance.
  • Support the implementation of the Project Change Request process.
  • Ensure resolution of cross-functional technical issues by coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Present progress updates, KPI production, and data analysis to support management decisions.
  • Oversee codes and standards replication strategy and manage the impact on procurement specifications.

You

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in one or more engineering disciplines (nuclear safety, electrical, mechanical, systems, civil, or layout).
  • Prior experience in EPR projects or nuclear new build projects.
  • Familiarity with configuration management processes and tools.
  • Experience in major infrastructure projects (preferably £50m+ projects).
  • Understanding of various contract types (e.g., NEC, FIDIC) and commercial aspects of major projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of EPR systems, modification processes, and nuclear industry practices is desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills to meet time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Effective communication and active listening skills to build strong relationships.
  • A questioning attitude to challenge assumptions and identify potential issues.

Why Join Vulcain Engineering?

  • Work on cutting-edge infrastructure projects.
  • Be part of an innovative and international team.
  • Career development opportunities through mentorship and technical communities.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Private medical & dental insurance
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Training and development
  • Enhanced company sick pay
