Summary

Reporting into the Head of Conferences & Event Operations, the successful candidate will lead the conference production team in delivering innovative, best in class events focused on the public sector. You will play a key role in shaping impactful conferences on topics such as wellbeing, supporting disadvantaged students, youth justice and safeguarding among others. We are also looking for someone who can proactively identify and propose new, relevant conference topics that reflect the evolving public sector landscape. Ultimately, you will:

· Help set the overall strategy of the team with the Head of Conferences & Event Operations.

· Help develop our event portfolio through knowledge, of the marketplace, researching new topics, and through using your own previous experience. This could also lead to expanding into new territories.

· Continue to build a culture of high performance, lead by example, develop, and coach your team whilst continuing to build relationships across other departments.

What we are looking for

Key Responsibilities and Duties

· Provide direction, coaching, performance management to a team of three Junior conference producers to help them successfully deliver the conference business plan and to drive best practice within the team.

· Work with the Head of Conferences & Event Operations to create and maintain our conference schedule of over 100 conferences.

· Lead research to identify potential ideas and improvements that will define the future of our conferences as well as look at expanding into new territories.

· Develop our portfolio of event offerings.

· Create comprehensive programmes with formats that produce best-in-class conference experience and engagement.

· Maintain and develop long-standing relationships with industry-leading organisations, new and existing senior executives across the Public, Private and Voluntary Sectors.

· Review processes, KPIs across the team.

· Manage recruitment for the team as and when required.

Education, Experience and Competencies

· Some experience of managing others, it does not have to be formal line management experience - matrix management will suffice.

· Strong interest and/ or understanding of government and public sector policy.

· Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task effectively.

· Excellent written (including copy writing) and oral communication skills.

· Creativity, a passion for research, motivation with the ability to work collaboratively.

· Relentless drive and desire to be the very best at what you do.

· Possess an unparalleled work ethic with a high sense of urgency.

· Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with external partners and speakers as well as with internal staff members. The ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships is key to success in this position.
