Job Description

Making decisions and providing professional advice on the enforcement of Planning Legislation, with a specific focus on planning conditions in accordance with agreed objectives.

Requirements
  • Drafting recommendations and taking action on breaches of planning conditions and associated enforcement cases.
  • Carrying out effective negotiations to achieve compliance with planning conditions and other related breaches of planning control.
  • Drafting recommendations to Committee in accordance with the Enforcement Charter.
  • Responding to work that has commenced on-site and the completion of works, working closely with Transportation to address Highway Safety breaches in rural areas.
  • Collaborating with case Planning Officers and colleagues to resolve condition breaches.
  • Preparing planning appeal and court submissions on behalf of the Council.
  • Contributing to the effectiveness of the service.
The Individual
  • Experience of working in a Development Management Team.
  • Previous experience of investigation and research work.
  • General understanding of Local Government issues.
  • HNC Qualification in Built Environment or related discipline.
  • High level of personal initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Diplomacy and effective communication skills with a wide range of customers.
  • Excellent negotiation and time management skills.
  • Good oral, written communication, and numeracy skills.
  • Analytical abilities and research skills.
