Job summary

Blanchard Construction seeks a Concrete Finisher to work on-site across the UK, performing formwork setup, placing, screeding and finishing concrete surfaces. You will ensure proper levels, slopes and textures for slabs and foundations while coordinating with site teams.

Ideal candidates have practical flatwork experience, knowledge of formwork systems, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions. A valid driver’s license is beneficial for travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in concrete flatwork: placing, screeding, floating, finishing.
• Knowledge of formwork systems; basic carpentry for building/stripping forms.
• Ability to safely operate relevant power tools for concrete work.
• Understanding and practice of site safety rules and company health policies.
• Ability to read basic site drawings and interpret levels.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying UK weather conditions.
• Experience as Concrete Finisher or similar construction role; relevant training an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up concrete forms and structures.
• Place, screed, and finish concrete surfaces to required levels and textures.
• Ensure correct slopes and elevations for slabs and foundations.
• Use hand tools and power tools to finish and cure concrete.
• Assist with installation/removal of formwork and alignments.
• Coordinate with site supervisors and other trades to complete tasks safely.
• Inspect finished work for quality and adherence to drawings and standards.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area and follow site safety procedures.

Role Description

The Concrete Finisher will work on-site across the uk in a full-time capacity, supporting a variety of construction and civils projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and setting up concrete forms, placing, screeding, and finishing concrete surfaces, and ensuring correct levels, slopes, and textures for slabs, foundations, and other structures. The role involves using hand tools and power tools, assisting with the installation and removal of formwork, and coordinating with site supervisors and other trades to complete tasks safely and efficiently. The Concrete Finisher will also inspect completed work for quality, follow site safety procedures, and help maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications

• Practical experience with concrete flatwork, including placing, screeding, floating, and finishing.


• Knowledge of formwork systems and basic carpentry skills for building and stripping forms.


• Ability to safely operate relevant power tools and use heavy equipment associated with concrete work, as appropriate.


• Understanding of construction site safety practices and willingness to follow company health and safety policies.


• Strong attention to detail, ability to read basic site drawings, and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.


• Reliable timekeeping, ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and capability to perform physically demanding tasks.


• Prior experience as a Concrete Finisher or in a similar construction role; industry-recognized training or certifications are an advantage.


• Valid driver’s license and reliable transport to Gurney Slade are beneficial.
