Job summary

Guidant Global is recruiting a Concession Writer to join the A400M Wing Manufacture programme at Filton on behalf of Airbus. This role authors and manages technical concessions for manufacturing non-conformances, collaborating with shop floor and engineering teams to keep the assembly line moving.

Location: Filton, 100% onsite. Pay: £31.82 per hour Umbrella or £23.78 per hour PAYE. Expect involvement in Quality Improvement Projects and root-cause analysis across the programme.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in aerospace manufacturing, specifically wing structures or related environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specs.
• Excellent technical writing and ability to draft clear concessions.

Responsibilities

• Investigate manufacturing deviations on the A400M wing structure and author technical concessions.
• Coordinate with Design and Quality Engineering to review, validate, and approve concessions promptly.
• Log, track and maintain non-conformance data for full traceability in quality systems (e.g. SAP).
• Work with manufacturing to resolve blockers and maintain tact time.
• Prioritise concession backlogs to meet monthly delivery targets and KPIs.
• Highlight potential production bottlenecks to operations leadership.
• Participate in cross-functional Quality Improvement Projects focused on root-cause analysis.
• Implement PPS methodologies to reduce Cost of Non-Quality and boost performance.

About the Role

Guidant Global is recruiting a Concession Writer to join the A400M Wing Manufacture programme at Filton on behalf of Airbus. This is a hands-on, high-impact role at the heart of production, where you'll author and manage technical concessions for manufacturing non-conformances, working closely with the shop floor and engineering teams to keep the assembly line moving.

Beyond day-to-day concession management, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in Quality Improvement Projects, helping to drive root-cause analysis and long-term reductions in the Cost of Non-Quality across the programme.

Key Responsibilities

Concession & Non-Conformance Management

• Investigate manufacturing deviations on the A400M wing structure and author clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical concessions.
• Liaise directly with Design and Quality Engineering teams to ensure concessions are reviewed, validated, and approved in a timely manner.
• Log, track, and update non-conformance data in internal aerospace quality management systems (e.g. SAP) to maintain full traceability.
• Ensure all concessions comply with aviation regulatory standards, structural integrity requirements, and company quality procedures.

Operational Support

• Work hand-in-hand with the A400M manufacturing operations team to resolve technical blockers swiftly and maintain assembly line tact time.
• Prioritise concession backlogs as directed by the Head of Business to align with monthly delivery targets and operational KPIs.
• Highlight potential production bottlenecks caused by recurring technical issues to operations leadership.

Quality Improvement & Operational Performance

• Participate in and support cross-functional Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) focused on root-cause analysis and permanent defect eradication.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Assurance to implement Practical Problem Solving (PPS) methodologies, reducing the Cost of Non-Quality (CoNQ) and boosting operational performance.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in aerospace manufacturing, specifically within wing structures, metallic/composite assembly, or aircraft quality environments.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, structural repair manuals, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in aerospace drawing interrogation and use of SAP.
• Excellent written skills for drafting technical arguments, with the interpersonal skills needed to collaborate effectively between shop-floor operators and other support functions.

Role Details

Location: Filton (100% onsite)

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 06:30-15:45

Pay: £31.82 per hour Umbrella / £23.78 per hour PAYE

Security clearance: BPSS+ (completed by Airbus Security)
