ABOUT THE ROLE
- Plan effective, inclusive, and differentiated learning programmes that promote equality and engage diversity.
- Design teaching sessions aligned with module outcomes, using varied resources and digital learning techniques to cater to individual needs.
- Ensure all learning materials are current and accessible via the VLE for student engagement.
- Assist in developing module content and layout on the VLE as needed.
- Apply learning principles to create activities that meet curriculum and student needs.
- Select appropriate teaching methods and skills development activities to facilitate student progress.
- Foster a stimulating learning environment while adhering to health, safety, and safeguarding policies.
- Implement assessment principles, including diagnostic, formative, and summative evaluations.
- Utilize various methods to monitor and record student learning and progress periodically.
- Provide interactive assessment activities in face-to-face, online, and VLE formats.
- Offer timely, constructive feedback to support student improvement and achievement.
- Prepare students for assessments like exams, coursework, and practicals.
- Develop assessment materials, including marking, moderation, and data entry in platforms like Progresso and Trackers.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and progress.
- Respond promptly to attendance, punctuality, or behavioral issues, referring to progress coaches or management when necessary.
- Support students with target setting and academic performance improvement strategies.
- Assist students through workshops, revision classes, and proactive liaison with university staff.
- Contribute to student progress reports using constructive language.
- Encourage students to attain high standards and refer them for additional support if needed.
- Promote safeguarding and student wellbeing, referring to support services as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including parents, sponsors, and university partners.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, including observations and evaluations.
- Maintain and update subject specialist knowledge and enthusiasm.
- Engage in professional development and self-reflection to enhance teaching practice.
- Comply with professional conduct regulations and use student feedback for improvement.
- Collaborate within the ESC Department to develop engaging curricula and resources.
- Operate flexibly to meet departmental needs, including covering absent colleagues and participating in Centre events.
- Share best practices and contribute to a resource bank for teaching, learning, and mentoring.
- Attend departmental, centre, and network meetings as scheduled.
ABOUT YOU
- A Cert Ed, PCET, or PGCE qualification (or willingness to achieve).
- A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area.
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is desirable.
- Experience in teaching, learning, and assessment at levels 3 and 4; experience at levels 5 and 6 is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of STEM subjects, especially Computing and Discrete Maths/Maths for Computing.
- Experience teaching international students and developing digital learning platforms.
