A recruitment agency is looking for a part-time Computing Technician in the Kettering area to support computing education across multiple campuses. Job Title: Technician - Computing

Location: Kettering, Corby & Wellingborough

Contract Type: Permanent - Part Time

Hours: 22.2 hours per week | 52 weeks per year




Morgan Hunt is delighted to be working with a college in the Kettering area to recruit a computing technician.




This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled and proactive individual to support the delivery of computing education across multiple campuses. If you're passionate about IT systems and enjoy solving technical challenges in an educational setting, this role could be for you.



Key Responsibilities:

Technical & IT Support



  • Provide day-to-day support for computing labs, networks, and specialist software.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure systems run efficiently for students and staff.
  • Support the use of routers, switches, and PC hardware/peripherals across all computing environments.

System & Network Administration



  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software across campuses.
  • Manage user accounts, ensure correct licensing, and maintain up-to-date asset records.

Staff & Student Support



  • Liaise with teaching staff to ensure computing environments meet curriculum needs.
  • Provide assistance to non-specialist users, including software setup and basic training.

Health, Safety & Compliance



  • Contribute to health and safety risk assessments and ensure safe working practices.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote equality, diversity, and inclusive practice.
  • Assist with user documentation and system maintenance logs as required.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in internal training, CPD, and college-wide quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge aligned with industry developments.
Ideal Candidate Profile:

Qualifications & Experience:



  • Holds industry-recognised IT qualifications (e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) OR has significant hands-on IT experience.
  • Strong knowledge of PC architecture, networking, Windows OS, routers, and switches.
  • Experience supporting and configuring peripherals, software installations, and updates.
