Job summary

GSL Education London is seeking a dedicated Computer Science Teacher to join a Lewisham secondary school on a long-term or permanent basis. You will deliver engaging lessons and support students across the curriculum.

Qualifications

Salary: £200 - £275 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education London are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Computer Science Teacher to join a secondary school in Lewisham on either a long-term or permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to equip students with the technical knowledge and problem-solving skills they need for success in an increasingly digital world.

The successful Computer Science Teacher will deliver engaging lessons across relevant key stages, supporting students according to the curriculum and syllabus. You will encourage learners to develop computational thinking, programming skills, and a strong understanding of computer systems while creating an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.

Main Responsibilities of a Computer Science Teacher:
  • Plan and deliver engaging Computer Science lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Support students according to the curriculum and syllabus.
  • Teach programming, computational thinking, computer systems, and digital literacy across relevant key stages.
  • Prepare students for assessments and external examinations.
  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Differentiate learning activities to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Encourage students to develop problem-solving, analytical, and coding skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school staff to support student achievement.
Requirements of a Computer Science Teacher:
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computing, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Previous experience teaching Computer Science within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the Computer Science curriculum.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
