Job summary

Green Folk in Somerset is seeking an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer to join a busy precision machining operation. The role focuses on developing and optimising CNC programs, with a strong emphasis on Edgecam and high-precision aerospace/defence components.

You will work within a supportive engineering team, ensure tight tolerances, interpret complex drawings, and contribute to continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Experience as CAD/CAM Engineer or CNC Programmer in a precision machining environment.
• Strong Edgecam expertise.
• Experience with tight tolerances and high quality standards.
• Aerospace/defence industry experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise CNC programs using Edgecam.

Are you an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer with strong Edgecam programming expertise?

A leading precision machining manufacturer in Somerset is seeking a Contract CAD/CAM Engineer / Machining Engineer to support a busy production programme supplying complex components to the aerospace and defence sectors. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded engineering business, working on technically challenging projects in a modern precision machining environment.

The Role

As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and optimising CNC machining programs, supporting production efficiency and ensuring the successful manufacture of high-precision components.

Key Responsibilities

• Producing CNC programs using Edgecam
• Developing machining strategies for complex aerospace and defence components
• Supporting production teams with technical expertise and troubleshooting
• Optimising cycle times and machining processes
• Assisting with tooling selection and manufacturing improvements
• Interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models
• Supporting new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

We're keen to speak with individuals who have:

• Proven experience as a CAD/CAM Engineer, CNC Programmer, Manufacturing Engineer or Machining Engineer
• Strong working knowledge of Edgecam
• Experience within a precision machining environment
• Understanding of CNC milling and/or turning processes
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Experience working to tight tolerances and demanding quality standards
• Aerospace, defence, motorsport or other highly regulated industry experience would be advantageous
