Job summary

The Python Software Foundation in Glasgow is seeking a computational scientist to build and own the modelling and learning capabilities of LumiAIres. This is a hybrid role focused on the photonic core's computational behaviour.

As part of a team pioneering photonic AI technologies, you will model how light computes and train models that read these computations. The role involves close collaboration with engineers and academic partners to enhance our digital twin technology.

The position promises long-term growth opportunities, with potential for a permanent role in Glasgow or Paris.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in applied mathematics, computational or theoretical physics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Strong optical and photonic simulation skills.
  • Grounding in practical machine learning, model training, evaluation, and pipeline development.

Responsibilities

  • Model the photonic core and full signal chain using optical-simulation and numerical wave-propagation methods.
  • Design input encoding and output decoding schemes for the photonic platform.
  • Build and maintain the digital twin of the photonic processor.
