Job description

Job Title: Compressed Gas Fitter

Salary: up to £28,000 per annum dependent upon experience

Location: Stansted, Essex

Aeropeople have partnered with a multinational organisation, global designer and manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices company who are now looking to hire a permanent Compressed Gas Fitter, to be based at their site in Stansted. The successful candidate will be expected to be on site 5 days per week.

Established more than 60 years ago, the company employs more than 21,000 employees in 35 different countries. It is a leading global provider of industrial technology solutions serving a diverse set of attractive niche markets, recognised as a global provider of third-party MRO services to commercial, regional and general aviation customers as well as military, helicopter and business jet markets.

They are a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices specialising in services for more than 5,000 components over a variety of aircraft systems with capabilities covering aircraft windings, electrical power, hydraulic components, landing gear and safety equipment.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. To repair, test and overhaul valve & cylinder assemblies and undertake hydrostatic testing of cylinders and charging of complete assemblies (up to 4500 PSI)
  2. Strip down of valve assemblies
  3. Replace standard spares as part of the overhaul process
  4. Inspect individual parts and replace defective items
  5. Thorough clean of components
  6. Build-up valve assemblies ready for testing on various flow rigs
  7. Hydrostatic testing of cylinders in accordance with Department of Transport requirements
  8. Re-assembly of the valve and cylinder components
  9. Charge the complete assemblies to pressures of up to 4500 PSI
  10. Provide ad hoc support, as required, to the safety inflatable team

  3. Early Finish on Friday (39 hour week/ standard hours 8-4.30pm Mon to Thursday and 4pm finish on Friday), Overtime when work allows

About You:
  1. Prior experience working of interpreting and following in detail compliance manuals (essential)
  2. Numerate and literate - minimum GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English
  3. Ability to work well in multi-discipline/cross-functional teams
  4. Working within a small team of skilled technicians, reliability, flexibility and teamwork are key skill requirements
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build close-knit relationships
  6. Strong organisation skills and excellent attention to detail
  7. Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and multitask whilst maintaining a high degree of quality, workmanship and compliance with health and safety regulations
  8. Strong communicator (written and verbal)
  9. Positive, enthusiastic, confident and motivated
