YOUR DAY-TO-DAY ROLE
Lead compound operations to ensure vehicles are processed, maintained, and available to meet customer requirements. Manage Multi-Skilled Operatives, drive KPI performance, oversee staffing levels, and ensure vehicle checks and stock controls are completed accurately and on time.
Your main responsibilities:
Lead daily inbound and outbound vehicle operations, ensuring efficient processing and on‑time dispatch.
Manage compound teams to deliver customer requirements, operational targets, and KPIs.
Plan resources and staffing levels to meet changing business demands.
Maintain accurate vehicle inventory and compound records.
Ensure vehicles are prepared and available for carrier collection within agreed timescales.
Coordinate Health & Safety activities across the compound, including risk assessments, safe systems of work, accident investigations, and safety audits.
Conduct compound and quality audits to ensure compliance with company standards and procedures.
Monitor, analyse, and report operational, safety, and quality performance data.
Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Coach and develop Team Leaders and Operatives to drive performance, engagement, and continuous improvement.
Experience & skills
5+ years’ experience in compound management, vehicle distribution, logistics, or a similar operational environment.
Proven track‑record of leading large teams and delivering operational performance in a fast‑paced setting.
Strong planning, organisational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Solid knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including risk assessments and safe systems of work (SSoW).
Experience managing compliance, quality standards, ISO 9001 procedures, and internal/customer audits.
Confident communicator, able to engage, influence, and motivate teams and stakeholders at all levels.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Results‑driven with a focus on continuous improvement.
